Goodwill Ambassador

Jimmy Jamar, a Belgian national, is the Head of the European Commission Representation in Belgium. During his career in the Commission, he has constantly strived to improve the relations between the European Union and its citizens.

In 2012, Jimmy founded a charity association called “12 Hours for Greece”, with the aim to collect funds, through the organisation of cultural events, to help organisations in Greece dealing with education, health and the fight against poverty. In 2014, he launched the initiative “Fuel for Schools” in partnership with the International Foundation for Greece, in order to raise money to heat schools in the poorer and more isolated regions of Greece. The project has received strong media and popular attention, both in Belgium and in Greece.

In October 2014, Jimmy Jamar was awarded by the Greek President the Gold Cross of the Greek order of Merit, and in December 2015 he became Goodwill Ambassador of the International Foundation for Greece.

Jimmy Jamar studied Law and International Relations. Since 2014, he has also written three books on Greece and Europe. He is married since 1992 to Ioanna Synadino.
